Single- and Multi-Turret Lathes

Swiss-Type Machines
Swiss-Type Machines are built for high-volume production of small, tight-tolerance parts, especially long, slender workpieces that would deflect on a conventional lathe. By supporting the material close to the cut and completing more operations in one cycle, Swiss platforms improve repeatability, surface finish, and throughput while reducing part handling and secondary operations.
Our Swiss-Type Machine offering spans multi-axis configurations with rigid construction for close-tolerance stability and tool life. Common features across platforms include a programmable C-axis on main and sub spindles, B-axis for angled drilling and milling, Y-axis functions for added flexibility, live tooling, and high tool capacity configurations.
Production-ready features vary by platform, but often include chip and parts conveyors, long workpiece support, guide bushing operation for long or slender work, non-guide bushing (chucking) for short-part work, and back-working flexibility (Y-axis/Y2 options) to complete more operations in one cycle. Uptime-focused systems also vary, but include spindle chillers, coolant flow detectors, and advanced control and software packages that support consistent accuracy and repeatable unattended production.
Complex Parts Manufactured in One Fast Operation
With three tools in the cut, the Rapido BMX 45Y2 Multi-Axis Double Turret Lathe is one of the most powerful and accurate machine in it's class. It features a dual Y-axis with 15 HP on both the main and sub spindles, which delivers up to 50% faster cycle times.
Production Increased Over 300%
A firearms manufacturer was producing its most complex component across two horizontal machines, three shifts and six operators. After reviewing the part geometry, engineering transitioned production to a Eurotech Rapido.
The change increased output from 45 to 185 parts per shift on a single machine run by one operator, while also ending the need for Swiss lathes on the same part.
