1590 Union Butterfield machine taps are available in UNC and UNF sizes and have a steam oxide finish, which ensures accurate threads by preventing workpiece material from sticking to the cutting edges of the tool. The 40 degree helix, heavy duty spiral flutes make the taps great for threading blind holes. For better performance and longer tool life, the taps are made from premium High Speed Steel, and manufactured to conform to the American National Standards Institute. 1590 UNC/ UNF machine taps are application products, designed for tapping higher strength materials including steel and stainless steel.
